So, welcome. I hope you'll become more kindly here. ;)
Wot wot chap? I'm not kind enough yet? j/k Sorry about the....war dealio. Cars - ww2- guns - flying...yeah that's about it. I do like TLK, Mufasa is my favorite and perhaps I'll assemble an avatar with him in it. :)

Oh well, at least it's done. We learn I guess. :D

It's just seen as offensive. Don't worry, I've done offensive things to other boards too that I thought were funny. It's one of those "testing the waters" deal.

So, tell us, why have you chosen Mufasa as your favourite character?

Hmm, well. He is a leader, brave and courageous as well as wise. He's very caring, and passionate. He is willing to acknowledge death, and that he must one day face it. He also admits his fears, and is very honest. I guess it's the ideal character traits I look up to. He also looks nice, the thick floppy mane, the big bones and the square face. Unique and firm. :)

I also love him when he dies. He loves his son to the last, and expresses the full extent of his love in sacrificing his life for Simba.

It's almost as if he was expecting it... like a Christ-figure.

Oh, this is very interesting! Maybe it is like that because they wanted to create a perfect character so they made it similar to the Christ-figure? ... I don't know... but it is very interesting remark! :o I've never been thinking of it this way...

A teacher from my University told us that Mufasa died with wounds on his hands... like Christ...

Remember when Scar hurts him with his claws...

Tired of my old signature ^^

That is an interesting point, but to be historically and scientifically accurate, Christ had injuries just below his wrists. If he were crucified via his hands, the flesh and bone would tear and break. According to the Bible, Christ did not break a bone in his hand.

In guess in parts, Simba is also a Christ figure.

"You said that you'd always be there for me!"

The Cathoic creed for recognition of Christ declares that He went to hell for a time, but then ascended into Heaven.

Similarly, Simba found his way back.

"Simba? No... you're dead."

"Mufasa? That can't be..."

Sarabi's assumption in that Simba was Mufasa is also a religious link to that Christ is the son of God.

"Into the water, into the truth, in your reflection, he lives in you."

The additional reference here is that the water is Holy, reflecting God who is present in us all. Mufasa, in Simba's reflection.

Pretty interesting, eh?

Yeah, ties a few knots here and there, but it doesn't describe it fully... There was more pain, agony, and horror in the way Christ died... not just holes in hands. I like the way C.S.L. put together the death of Aslan. Having ropes tied around you so tight that they seep into your skin... kinda resembles the beating of Christ before they went to Crussify him.

Mufasa just falls and dies (with holes in his hands)

Oh, yes, JSC Lewis by creating Narnia did a great job to "translate" the Bible into "our language". I do love that sorry. The whole storries about Narnia written by Lewis!
