Timon and Pumbaa - Gay?

Timon and Pumbaa - Gay?
Now I do not even ASSUME they are gay, not even a little bit. However I noticed on several TLK forums it happens to be a debate every now and then. What are your views on this? I honestly think they are just very close friends, and there is nothing wrong with that. But it is said that TLK sends many wrong views to children and other people through Timon and Pumbaa, as them being the first Disney Gay Couple.
There is a news article that says the actors for Timon and Pumbaa both admited that the two characters were gay. However, they are NOT the creator/director of TLK, therefore I don't lay the truth in their hands. What do you guys think? Did you ever even think they were gay?

Others are so perverted.
American humor eh? Yes, maybe so. The media will twist anything they want into their stories, and I think this was one of them. I'm amazed to see that no one thinks that they are gay though. The forum I recently parted away from, well 80% thought thhey were gay. It's truly sad to take something like TLK and bend and twist it with evil ways.

Yes... all this comes from Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella. While making the voices of Timon and Pumbaa, they decided their characters would be gay. And the voice acting greatly influences the image of the character.the actors for Timon and Pumbaa both admited
Certainly it wasn't the intention of script writers.
It's just a thing all good actors do - they think about the character they play, try to understand him, give him some personality, determine his views, his tastes and so on. As for Lane and Sabella, this idea helped them to create a very funny duet.
But - again - there is no such thing in the script, so there's little point in speculating about it.

Ненавижу СП и все, что с ним связано.
I'm glad to see everyones views on this. I just hope I'm not resented, or hated for bringing up the subject? May I make note that the thought never occured to me until someone else introduced it to me. Saddly enough, the people in my own school think like this. Everything is perverse and foul, and we can laugh at it because we think of it in foul little ways.
I always and still do, consider The Lion King a very innocent movie. Saddly, there are some that like to tweak that to their perfection.
I was wondering what everyone else thought about it, and I'm rather glad to all of the replies so far.
Naive indeed.

The media are just trying to get a controvercial issue out there, giving people something to chat about ("Isn't it weird? I never thought about it before, but now that you mention it...").
I don't differentiate this story much from my fondest memory of media conjecture - the accusation of the purple telly tubby, tinky winky, being a homosexual symbol. I also don't take this timon/pumbaa story any more seriously.

I'd have to say that i pretty sure they're not gay.
Me and my best friend have just as close companionship.
Me and my friend are like brothers and as far as i can see so seems Timon and pumbaa's relationship... doesn't mean they're gay.
One can have close relationships with another of the same sex without being gay.
And i'm actally kinda sick of this gay-or-not hysteria that's going around.

I don't need no one else but you in my life!
