My motto: Aww...the sense and the humor can't be translated, but maybe you German-speaking able guy understand it

"Lieber arm dran als Arm ab"
That means as much as "Better poor off than arm away"

(Better to have a bad time than to have lost an arm, and in German it rhymes well...because of this arm-Arm is written once big and once little, arm is poor and Arm is the arm

)
