The Sonic God писал(а):Uh, I'm interested! I've been speaking it for seven years... but I still suck at it.
7 years and you still suck at it? Umm okay I'm learning English in the School for 8 years now and also still suck at that xD

But German is very very difficult, also for us Germans! LOL! No seriously.. it's grammer is so weird and difficult.. there are rules for the grammar but nobody can really explain them! Maybe only teachers xD I guess only people who were living in Germany for a long time can speak it correctly because then you hear what's right (You hear what sounds right; but that's in each language I suppose).

I would advise nobody to learn German x)

German follows the path of Scandinavian and Old English grammar.

English: I don't understand.
Old English: I understand not.
German: Ich verstehe nicht.

German follows the Old English as a literal translation (about half of the time.)

German is also present in English words.

Santa's reindeer/caribou, Donner and Bliztzen: Thunder and Lightning.

Children, Men, Women: Plural forms borrowed from German grammar (not Childs, Mans, or Womans.)

What was dropped from English to German is the diphthong "TH," which was derived from the Icelandic Thorn and Eth. German does not use this. However, English does not use the German diphthong "CH."

The CH pronunciation is also found in a Spanish and Finnish H, and in the Gaelic CH. In English, CH has a TSCH sound.

Since I did not grow up with the language, it will take me years to have an "ear" for the language. Nothing is automatic for me yet.

Well it's understandable that you don't have an ear for any language that you don't hear very often...

That thing with the 'th' is right 8) many Germans have big difficulties in pronouncing it. Because we don't use it in any word... except for the words and phrases we say in English, because it sounds cool or so xD

I didn't know that the German grammar is similar to the old English one... that Old English must sound really weird :omgfun

The oldest known English is actually quite literally, a form of the Icelandic tongue. You wouldn't recognize it compared to today's English.

The TH is actually similar to an Eth, Thorn, a Scandinavian DD, and a Spanish D.

With your tongue lightly hovering against the back of your teeth, let out air slowly (for the th in "with," "path," etc.) or make the sound vocal, as in a hum "for the th in "that," "those," and "width.")

There is no German equivalent for a TH.

There is no English equivalent for a CH, either. (I knew how to do CH's since I was a child.)

Yeah...one week. But then I finally can relax...no three tests a week and three things to finish, like the wood project or the necklace...and so on.

And then I can do my WoW projects (Rp-projects), because they sometimes (as today) also really make me powerless...because nothing works, nobody helps...

What?! 3 tests a week? Do you mean big tests or ehm (Exen auf deutsch ^^") Yeah I'm also looking forward to the vacations... but I have to do a lot of schoolwork during the vacations, too, to get all the stuff... but as I know myself, I will rather surf the net all the time instead of learning  (damn me >.<)

Kari:

One week ago I had an accountancy HALF-YEAR exam. And every week only "tests", but in my test-subjects I only have two tests in half a year. So important tests, big tests.

In the last three wekks I had accountancy exam and eight tests.
And actually also:
History presentation
Arts History presentation
Wood project to finish (I haven't - tomorrow I'll have to sink in the bottom because of shame)
Cloth Printing project to finish
In "metal" earrings to do
And next week I also have an accountancy test (one of three this half year), german test and in two days chemics test.

So -> Many, many things to do. I hate it, I have nearly no free time left...it's awful :(

I know that feeling Mieko. I'm in my last year of high-school and we have one big test every week the next time:

Yesterday - Math (stupid & unnecessary stuff..)
Next week - German (a text interpretition over 4 hours)
In two weeks - industrial economics -______- the most terrible thing ever!
And after the vacations - English

Some short tests between.. What a luck I already had the computer science and political economics tests!

But I don't think it's as stressful as your schedule, though ^^° Presentations are always a stressful thing, too. Not preparing them or find information or so.. but the short time before... okay I'll stop it.. but this hectic time will surely go by, don't worry ;)

I got a couple months left.. But then, after that, I'm afraid what college has in store for me

Let's see, I take German here in 7 days, and last night I watched a curiously odd Russian movie, "Night Watch: Nochnoi Dozor." Creepy... and not for kids.
