So be it.
How i shoud name the new forum? It must be something from TLK.. How about Rafiki's tree? X) I know it's banal, but i can't think up nothing better

I can always change it, if we shall find any better

Maybe "Neighbouring pride" or something? It's not connected with TLK, but it's related to lions, isn't it? "Rafiki's tree" doesn't reflect the main point at all.

By the way, how many people here don't speak Russian? Just curious.

By the way many of those beleiving they speak russian... they don't actually. Many of us don't, too. And mee. It's rather "pornography", not a language. Mwahaha... You can see it all around. We just used to ignore it... Where's the Great and Mighty as it was spoken about?

I registered a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've ever been in a forum anywhere. I am english too and I have no idea how to speak Russian or any other language for that matter, besides a bit of spanish that I learned while in high school. But I just wanted to say hi to everyone here. Have a great day!

Saying that Russian is a language of pornography is racist, IMHO. That's the same of saying that Japanese is the language of manga porn. It's just not right.

The ONLY reason I suggested the need for an English-speaking forum is because 40% of the internet speaks English. Quite frankly, I know only two words of Russian. Nyett, and Da. (No, and Yes.)

"Rafiki's Tree" is an excellent name. I like it.

Sarafina, I think because of your artwork, I will be completely and utterly biased. Why aren't you working for Disney?

That's not the point =) "This is Pornography" is a kind of idioma meaning "this is a very bad parody for a real-life thing" or just a random badly done thing. No racism meant (also: I'm russian myself... speak russian, ukraininan, english, a bit german and czech)

A good reason I must admit. I'm just curious how many of other-language-speaking people are learning russian when at high school? I never thought there's any at all But they are welcome here even more than others (to the translators project)

About Disney: it's not the same as 10 years ago. The Greatness of the Lion King can not de redone from a scratch once again. And one artist isn't enough to support a studio as such. They need a new tallanted management, a new non-money-making-strategy. This will not proove to be profitable either way in nearest future, and thus they'll die or continue producing crappy movies.

Once, a long time ago, people created great things. And others would invest top dollar into those things. For instance, a 1978 Mopar Fifth Avenue. Damn, would that machine run! And run, and run, and run. I swear it could go for 10 miles without oil. That engine was as solid as a rock. That's just one example.

Why don't they create quality products like this anymore? Well, they do, but only the supremely rich can afford them. The thing is, people thought they were spending too much money into making a product, and vigorous testing was done to make sure it would work. Well, according to the current economy, that's not "cost effective," as the costs to produce the product would exceed the margin of profit. They weren't getting back what they invested, and it was a loss.

The same goes for Disney and their movies. It's all about "profit," and they think it isn't cost effective to hire the best people and to get these movies done right. They just want to make a buck, make a buck. Blah! I want my good animation!

Here's the truth: cost is outweighed by the quality of the product. Only an idiot would invest their money into a lesser quality product. But since all products today are of low quality that normal people can afford, Disney will be stuck in this loophole of debt, as will be every other American. (And this is just one theory.)

Or maybe I'm just throwing words out to look for a viable excuse for Disney's behaviour. I really don't know.

I think the "make more and more money and do not care about the quaility" motto for Disney is not absolutely right. Well, I think every person on this little planet would not invest in something which will cost him more than he can get from it (except if it is charity) but Disney are really supporting a really cool balance between quaility and expenses - you see, that is why TLK blasted the low-quaility "cartoon" world at the time it was created(whch prooves your theory which I do but not fully accept).

Summary: The world really must stop thinking only about money (impossible ;-)

I was very amazed when I found out Russian is learnt somewhere. I've always thought it's god forsaken language.

Duh.. don't tell. It's pathetic. The time has changed - who's afraid of big bad Russia now. Just such lionesses as Sarafina enhance the prestige of our country...

I would try to learn Russian a little more quickly, but their alphabet is hard to read and identify... and the language itself is impossible for me to pronounce.

Trying to say "God Bless You" after someone sneezing is like trying to say a long sentence. In German, it's just "Gesundheit." Hehe.

Maybe you could give us a few tidbits, Sarafina?

There are some schools in the UK which offer Russian lessons. There are even official exams which you can take. My school didn't offer the course, but I took the exam anyway.

I have several neighbours here whom are Russian, perhaps it would do me a bit of good to try and learn something of Russian.

(I only wish I started to learn when I was 8, not 23.)

I'm also in the process of learning German, combined with Russian, I might end up mixing the accents together and creating something horrible. XD

This forum has a great deal of potential. This might also attract other Russian-English bilingual speakers whom love The Lion King as well.
